Programme Overview

IIM Calcutta’s Transitioning into Leadership: A Programme for Women Executives intends to sensitise participants to the transformation of women in organisations from managerial roles to leadership positions, and subsequently attempts to equip the participants with both theoretical and applied skills that would guide them to navigate their paths through the complex processes of managerial renovations. In the process, they would engage with a variety of executive dimensions that require leadership vision, self-exploration and understanding, skills, applications and articulations. ‘How do women in the corporate become effective leaders?’ –  is the broad question this programme intends to respond to at various levels of managerial, administrable and political crossroads.

Pedagogy

The program is structured around live classroom  student-faculty interaction to enhance and provide a quality learning experience. Therefore using class recordings is discouraged. Recordings may be accessed under certain limited conditions as approved by IIMC.

Programme Delivery

Sessions will be conducted via a state-of-the-art Interactive Learning (IL) platform and delivered in Direct-to-Device (D2D) mode that can be accessed by learners on their Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone. Participants will be provided reading materials, etc., for each course. They may also interact with the concerned faculty through e-mails/chat mode.

Campus Immersion

  • There will be 3+3 days of campus visit at IIM Calcutta, 3 days towards the middle and 3 days towards the end of the programme
  • The in-campus modules are subjected to the conditions that prevail at the point of time. These conditions pertain to the pandemic or other unavoidable reasons. In case the current situation maintains the status quo, adequate alternate options with regards to the in-campus modules will be made available via online sessions. Campus modules will remain compulsory for all.

Who should attend?

  • Working women professionals with at least 5 years of managerial experience in top companies
  • Participants demonstrating significant career achievements/leadership responsibilities
  • Women engaged in family business/entrepreneurial activities

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduates (10+2+3 or equivalent) in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks
  • Participants with less than 50% marks in graduation but 50% or more in post-graduation are also eligible
  • Women executives with at least 5 years of managerial experience*

*Internships and Training Experiences will not be considered full-time work experience.

  • Final selection of participants will be solely done by IIM Calcutta
  • There will also be an interview round over video conferencing

Assessment & Evaluation

The program follows a relative grading methodology and participants will only be given letter grades, not marks.

Attendance Criteria

A minimum of 75% attendance is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the programme.

Course Certification & Alumni Status

  • Participants who successfully meet the evaluation criteria and satisfy the requisite attendance criteria, will be awarded a ‘Certificate of Completion’.
  • Participants who are unable to clear the evaluation criteria but have the requisite attendance will be awarded a ‘Certificate of Participation’.
  • Successful participants will also be accorded IIM Calcutta Executive Education Alumni status.

IIM Calcutta’s Transitioning into Leadership: A Programme for Women Executives (TLPWE) is a year-long course curated exclusively for women executives. The course aims to enhance participating women's leadership and management skills. It includes crucial subjects like strategic leadership, digital-age management, human resources perspectives, and working women in emerging markets.
A leadership transition is any significant shift in a leader's position. However, majorly, “transitioning leadership” refers to the concept of women taking over leadership jobs in a male-dominated corporate world. In a market where women make up only 5% of the CEOs, there’s a dire need for more women in management positions. Recently, many programmes have been introduced to help women achieve equality in job roles. However, IIM Calcutta’s TLPWE programme is highly recommended.
For admission to the IIM Calcutta transitioning into leadership, a programme for women executives, Participants will be chosen based on their overall profile, final selection of the participants will be solely done by IIM Calcutta and interview over Video Conferencing.
A minimum of 75% attendance is a prerequisite for successfully completing the program.
