Programme Overview

The business environment in India is far more dynamic today than ever before. Family-managed businesses must understand and adapt to the professional ways of managing their businesses to remain afloat in today’s dynamic environment. The Post Graduate Certificate in Family Business Management is developed to educate and enable the owners/top-management of the family businesses in India to understand the business environment and functional aspects, identify new opportunities of growth, and develop strategies to expand their business.

Pedagogy

The teaching approach will be highly interactive and deploy diverse pedagogical tools and techniques including lectures, case studies, live corporate examples, and interactive discussions.

Programme Delivery

Sessions will be conducted via a state-of-the-art Interactive Learning (IL) platform and delivered in Direct-to-Device (D2D) mode that can be accessed by learners on their Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone. Participants will be provided reading materials, etc., for each course. They may also interact with the concerned faculty through e-mails/chat mode.

Campus Immersion

  • There will be 5 days of campus immersion at IIM Calcutta, which will be scheduled towards the middle or end of the programme. One visit will be scheduled about a month after programme start and one visit towards the end of the programme. It is mandatory for participants to attend the campus visits for successful completion of the programme.
  • The campus visit will be conducted subject to the evolving pandemic situation and will depend on government and institute regulations, advisories, and guidelines related to the pandemic. In case the campus module is not confirmed due to any reason, the same will be included in the total number of online sessions.

  • Senior Managers who report to the owners of family-managed businesses

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) or equivalent; or 2-year Master’s degree or its equivalent from institutions or universities recognised by UGC/AICTE/AIU/DEB
  • Must be an owner/scion of the family-managed business
  • Member of the top management who reports to the owner of the family-managed business. Also, he/she needs to have minimum 10 years of work experience
  • Final selection will be done by IIM Calcutta

*Internships and trainee experiences will not be considered in full-time work experience.

The selection will be based on candidate’s overall profile evaluation – educational qualification, allied experience, Statement of Purpose – subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

Note:

  • *18% GST will be additional as applicable.
  • All fees will be collected by Times Edutech and Events Limited (TEEL).
  • Processing Fee contains ₹10,200 towards Application Fee and ₹4,800 towards the total course fees. Processing Fee of ₹15,000 is refundable in case the participant’s profile is rejected by IIM Calcutta. In case the applicant’s profile is rejected then the initial amount paid at the time of registration shall be refunded, subject to a deduction of ₹2,500 by way of administrative charges.
  • Any extra payment due to any change in any of the applicable taxes during the tenure of the programme will have to be borne by the students.
  • This is with reference to the refund of the Processing Fee. Please note that the Processing Fee shall not be refunded in the following circumstances:
    • In case the candidate rejects the offer issued by the Institute; and
    • In case the application is rejected due to submission of incomplete documents and/or providing incomplete information and/or eligibility criteria not fulfilled.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Continuous evaluation components consists of class participation, case discussions, assignments, quiz, project presentations, and final examination.
  • Examination/evaluation shall be conducted by IIM Calcutta.
  • Participants will be given any one of the following grades: “Excellent”; “Good”; “Fair”; or “Poor.” The cut-off marks for the grades will be revealed but not the actual marks obtained.
  • Giving feedback is an integral part of the completion requirements of the programme.

Attendance Criteria

  • A minimum of 66% attendance is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the programme
  • Participants with less than 66% attendance will not be permitted to appear for the exams.

Course Certification

  • Candidates who meet the minimum attendance criteria and do not receive ‘Poor’ grades in more than two courses will receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ and the course-wise grades obtained will be mentioned in the certificate.
  • Candidates who meet the minimum attendance criteria but receive ‘Poor’ grades in more than two courses will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’. In such cases, the grade will not be mentioned in the certificate.
  • Successful participants will also be accorded IIM Calcutta Executive Education Alumni status.
