Programme Delivery
- The sessions will be delivered through the online platform and through face-to-face sessions at IIM Calcutta campus.
- Participants will attend the online classes from their laptop/desktop/mobile (D2D).
- Campus module will however remain compulsory for all.
- Study material for international participants will be sent electronically.
Campus Immersion
- There will be 2 campus immersions of 5 days each at IIM Calcutta, which will be scheduled towards the beginning and at the end of the programme, respectively.
- It is mandatory for participants to attend all campus visits for the successful completion of the programme. The campus visit will be conducted subject to the evolving pandemic situation and will depend on government and institute regulations, advisories, and guidelines related to the pandemic.
- In case the campus module is not confirmed due to any reason, the same will be included in the total number of online sessions.
Who should attend?
Healthcare professionals in general, and specifically, hospital administrators, doctors, professionals from medical and allied sectors such as pharmaceuticals and medical insurance as well as healthcare entrepreneurs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Medical practitioners and administrators with MBBS/BDS/BAMS degree or equivalent recognised by UGC/AICTE/MCI or equivalent. Students with biotechnology and biomedical background (bachelor’s degree or above) are also eligible to apply. Applicants should have minimum three years of experience* in healthcare sector as on application closure date.
- Applicants from other disciplinary backgrounds shall also be eligible, provided they have minimum five years of experience in healthcare sector as on application closure date.
- All applicants need to have minimum 50% marks [aggregate – considering results of all years] in graduation/post-graduation.
*Internships and trainee experiences will not be considered as full-time work experience.

Assessment & Evaluation
- Continuous evaluation components consisting of class participation, case discussions, assignments, quiz, project presentations, written tests, and final online examination
- Examination/evaluation shall be conducted by IIM Calcutta
- Examinations shall be conducted with the support of TEEL. Evaluation will be held for individual modules, but not for modules that are held on campus.
- For modules that are evaluated, participants will be given any one of the following grades: “Excellent”, “Good”, “Fair” and “Poor”
- Giving feedback is an integral part of the completion requirements of the programme
Attendance Criteria
A minimum of 75% attendance is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the programme.
Course Certification
- Candidates will successfully complete the programme if they have met the attendance criteria and have received ‘poor’ grades in not more than two courses.
- Successful candidates will receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ from IIM Calcutta.
- Those with requisite participation but unable to complete successfully will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’.
- Successful participants will also be accorded IIM Calcutta Executive Education Alumni status.

Module 1 : Healthcare Context Module
This module provides an overview of the global and Indian healthcare landscape, including healthcare systems, regulatory and ethical issues, and public policies in different countries. The module enables the participants to develop a comparative perspective to healthcare systems as well as to understand the underlying socio-political choices.
Module 2 : Sector-specific Module
The module covers topics such as operational aspects of hospital planning and structure, quality and accreditation, the use of data and technology in healthcare organisations, and the economics of the healthcare sector that are of relevance to managers of healthcare organisations.
Module 3 : Functional Module
This module provides exposure to knowledge of a breadth of functional management domains such as marketing, organisational design, strategic management, human resources management, leadership, conflict and negotiation, operations management (supply chain, project management), accounting, and finance. Participants will explore how foundational management principles from these functional domains can be applied in the healthcare sector.
Module 4 : Capstone Project
This component engages participants in teams on projects that are of their specific interest. This project complements classroom sessions and allows participants to draw on multiple tools and concepts learned across modules.
